Print on Demand

The Tillys print-on-demand program uses Atlas Max Plus printers and a large production dryer to create apparel quickly and efficiently in-house. This setup allows the team to react to trends, test new graphics, support low inventory needs, and bring successful ecommerce styles to market faster.

My role connected design with production, requiring a deep understanding of file setup, printer settings, color profiles, white base layers, garment-specific requirements, and final print output. This experience helped turn POD into a flexible production system built for speed, accuracy, and consistent execution.

01

Program Development & Workflow Buildout

Helped build the Tillys print-on-demand program from the ground up, creating processes where none previously existed. This included developing workflows that moved artwork from initial concept through file setup, printer preparation, production testing, and final printed garment.

02

Print Templates & Placement Systems

Created production templates for multiple printer pallets across garment types, sizes, and categories, including tees, fleece, tanks, baby tees, youth apparel, and tote bags. Artwork was sized and positioned using X/Y grid placement in millimeters to ensure consistent print scale, alignment, and placement across different blanks and pallet dimensions.

03

Color, Print & Production Troubleshooting

Worked directly with Atlas Max Plus printers, dryer settings, MIM/color profile adjustments, white base layers, ink colors, fixation levels, and garment-specific print requirements to improve accuracy and consistency. This required ongoing testing and troubleshooting across different fabrics, garment colors, and print methods to achieve the best possible final result.

04

Catalog Management & Scalable Execution

Maintained detailed notes, Excel tracking sheets, product catalogs, license files, neck print variations, and production documentation to keep the program organized and repeatable. These systems helped support seasonal updates, licensing year changes, ecommerce launches, marketing promotions, and successful styles that graduated into broader retail opportunities.
